ANZA is a Dubai based community organisation set up to provide support for the Australian and New Zealand community living in the UAE. ANZA has been in operation for over fourteen years and is managed wholly by volunteers.
The activities offered by ANZA are for all Australians and New Zealanders ranging from newborns to retirees. ANZA is not a ladies club - we cater for everyone. Our events are listed under "Diary" on this site and include the following:
ANZAakhbar: Quarterly newsletter providing information about various activities and social events, promotion of Australia/New Zealand products in Dubai, sports news and general information of public interest to expatriates here in the UAE.
National Events: Australia & Waitangi National Day Celebration, ANZAC Day Dawn Service etc.
Coffee Mornings: Jumeirah - Fourth/last Monday of each month from 10.00am. Ibn Battuta - second Tuesday of every month. Sharjah - every second week, see the Diary sectioin for details For newcomers and long term residents to get to know each other. Dates are advised in the ANZA Newsletter and by email updates.
Happy Hour Drinks: at Blue Bar, Novotel Hotel Dubai. Second Tuesday of each month from 7.30pm
Social Functions: Regular Kul Wa Ashrab Dinners. These dinners are held at various restaurants in Dubai and surrounding Emirates, these dinners give members a chance to enjoy good food while meeting other members and friends. We have also introduced regular dinners in the Northern Emirates.
Playgroup: Monday morning from 9.30a.m. onwards. In the cooler months ANZA Playgroup meets in one of the beautiful parks. When it gets too hot then they move to one of the indoor play areas around Dubai. ANZA Playgroup also meets regularly on a Thursday afternoon.

ANZA Mah Jong: Wednesday mornings 10.00am to 1.00pm. French Bakery - just off Sheikh Zayed Road at Interchange 1.
ANZA Craft & Quilting Group: Tuesday mornings from 10.00am. Come along and learn how to quilt – or just come with your sewing. We also make quilts to donate to charity and for fund raising.
Support for local charities - Many charities have benefitted from funds raised by ANZA including the Red Cross/Red Crescent Society, Gulf for Good, Riding for the Disabled Dubai, Al Noor Training Centre (ANZA has undertaken the education of a disabled child for over ten years) & Rashid Paediatric Schools for disabled children and many others. ANZA also supports the new Sharjah Lending Library, Sharjah Humanitarian City and the Very Special Arts Group located in Sharjah.
Distribution of information to members regarding cultural/social events of interest to Australians/New Zealanders that are offered by other organizations (Melbourne Cup, Film Festivals, AFL Grand Final/Rugby Grand Final, etc)
ANZA also offers compassionate support for members in times of need. |
