Dubai Dingoes AFL Club Posted Date : 10/26/2008

Dubai Dingoes (Dubai, UAE)
dubaidingoes.com

The Dubai Dingoes have now been training for several weeks and have a regular squad of around 20 guys. Dingoes Club President Phil Temple shared his thoughts on his club's chances, "The AFL Middle East League has our first game against the Doha Kangaroos next weekend and we anticipate them to be favorites for this game. Their home ground advantage, a full squad to choose from and loosing the last three games to us by only a kick will see them out to even the score. However the Dingoes "never say die" attitude sees ourselves in with a chance of taking the points, if we play our best footy. Anyone wanting to come down for kick, wishing to learn our great game, or just to be part of the Dingoes is most welcome and can head down to training each Wednesday at 7pm at SASF Park, behind the tennis courts.

The Dingoes also wish to send out a special thanks to Steve Nugent and the AFL Middle East committee for the fantastic effort in getting the league up and running so fast. It's hard enough running a footy club, let alone establishing a league from scratch. A job well done."

Coach: Mick Patton
Captain: Zac Donez
Players to watch: Michael Puhla, Zac Donez, Adam Moore, Mohammed Darwish, Adam Jahns and Kym "Plugger" Harris.

AFL Team - Doha Kangaroos Posted Date : 10/26/2008

Doha Kangaroos (Doha, Qatar)
dohakangaroos.webs.com

The Doha Kangaroos eagerly await the start of the new Middle East League. Currently with a list of just under 40 players, they have been training solidly since the start of July. The Kangaroos have picked up a number of players from local leagues around Australia, including players from state-league level. Promisingly, their players who have picked up the game in the past eighteen months have improved greatly. With a new President in John Pantelli and a hard-working committee, the Kangaroos are becoming a stronger club off the field too. Local media, sponsors and supporters have jumped on board and the, 'roos are quietly confident of a good showing in the league's first year.

Coach: Gary Johnson, assisted by Bill Barker
Captain: Gary Johnson

AFL Team - Muscat Magpies Posted Date : 10/26/2008

Muscat Magpies (Muscat, Oman)

The Magpies continue with the format of a combined Aussie Rules and Gaelic club for season 2008/9, but have recruited reasonably well over the summer to bolster the core playing group with a few more that have played the Aussie game. They've had a very solid pre-season; conditioning coach Paul Andrews has had the boys out on the track for the last 10 weeks sweating hard over summer, and they hope it pays off on the field this season. Expect a solid team effort from the Magpies - whilst they've got a couple of good bookends at each end, all-in-all it's an even, committed playing group who will ensure anyone that travels down the Muscat road this year will get a good competitive game. The Magpies are grateful to their generous group of sponsors who make the club viable and will help with travel committments; Muscat Duty Free, African & Eastern, Special Technical Services, Majan Aluminium Services Company, Shanfari Travel, NWS International and Nabors Drilling International.

Coach: Lance Scott
Captain: Chris Holmes
Players to watch: Wait and see!

Arabian Gulf Dingoes BALI MASTERS 2010 Posted Date : 6/9/2010

BALI MASTERS 2010

The Arabian Gulf Dingoes will be touring Bali for the 3rd consecutive year this June to compete in the 2010 Bali Masters. The competition comprises teams from all over Asia and Australia for players 35 years and older and is a fantastic football carnival. Last year saw our team go through the qualifying rounds undefeated, then to loose to the Bali Geckos in the playoffs by 4 points and who then went on to play the grand final. 9’s football is our Middle East game and we plan to go one better this trip and make the Grand final.

Last years trip saw representatives from The Dingoes, Falcons and Kangaroos make the trip, (plus a Malaysian Warrior and a few mates drafted in from Australian to make up the numbers). This year we would greatly like to see a full Arabian Gulf side made up of current and past players.

As team reps please forward this email to all your players turning 35 this year or older and invite them to join the tour. We must have confirmed numbers by the 26th March, as the representing team members and clubs will be announced at the AFL Gala Ball hopefully to attract sponsors for new Arabian Gulf jumpers for the trip. Places not filled by the 26th March will be offered to friends of players not playing in the AFL.ME league and those players who played for us last year.

Proposed Travel Plan:

Wednesday   09/06/2010: Arrive Bali
Thursday        10/06/1010: Team meeting and training run Kuta Beach. Team dinner.
Friday             11/06/1010:  Qualifying game afternoon / evening. Time to be confirmed
Saturday         12/06/1010:   Qualifying games and finals then party on Bali style.
Sunday           13/06/1010:   Free Day / shopping / white water rafting / surfing / watch AFL with 3 live games / this is Bali the list is long.
Monday          14/06/1010:   Leave Bali for another year
To confirm you place in the team please reply to p_temple@eim.ae
