Registration

We encourage all New Zealand citizens to register their presence in the UAE and keep these registration details current.  Please note that registration is not shared with any external agency including New Zealand Inland Revenue.  The details you provide when you register will help the New Zealand Consulate General contact you in an emergency (e.g. natural disaster, civil disturbance, family emergency etc.), or to pass on information that we wish to alert you about.

Please visit http://www.safetravel.govt.nz/ and click ‘register’.  You will be able to create your own login and password and can amend your details at any time, should your circumstances change.

Those who register will be assigned to a warden who will pass on relevant consular notices by email or fax as necessary.

Children born  overseas to Australian citizens may be eligible to apply for Australian  citizenship by descent.  For information about applying for Australian  citizenship overseas please refer to the Australian government citizenship  website at: http://www.citizenship.gov.au/."

Passport Applications

Neither the New Zealand Consulate General in Dubai nor the New Zealand Embassy in Riyadh are able to issue new or replacement New Zealand Passports.  Full details of procedures and forms that are necessary to make an application to Wellington, London or Sydney can be found on the Department of Internal Affairs website at www.dia.govt.nz.

Registration of Births/Citizenship

Children born of New Zealand parents in the UAE must be conferred with New Zealand citizenship in advance of applying for a passport.  Citizenship and passport applications for newborns can be dispatched and processed at the same time with full details of procedure and requirements found at www.dia.govt.nz.

Getting Married

New Zealand citizens who wish to marry in the UAE will require a “Certificate of No Impediment”.  This is issued from the Department of Internal Affairs in New Zealand and can be found under Births, Deaths & Marriages on www.dia.govt.nz.

Are you an Australian graduate living or working in the Middle East?   MEGAA members are of various nationalities working in different sectors but have all graduated from Australian universities and are residing and/or working in the United Arab Emirates. 

The purpose of the Alumni network is to encourage graduates to stay in touch with the Australian university environment and keep abreast of education opportunities in Australia either for themselves or for friends and family.  An Alumni community in the region will help students feel that the relationship with Australia does not end once they graduate and return to their home country.  The network also hopes to provide members with employment opportunities in the region, invitations to high profile Government events, social get-togethers, MEGAA newsletters and plenty more! 

MEGAA members can provide support and mentoring for prospective students, who are interested in exploring study opportunities in Australia, establish partnerships with local employers to help link graduates of Australian institutions with job opportunities in their local countries, and assist in building stronger bilateral business, cultural and trade relationships between Australia and the Middle East.

About Dubai Kidz and how it all started
Moving back to Dubai in 2005 gave me, now as a mum of toddler twins, lots of new tasks to tackle. Finding a nursery or activities and places to go to is always a challenge - but especially true so when you are new in town or during the hot summer months. And that's how I came up with the idea of creating an online directory of things to do with Kidz in Dubai, as I believe the internet is a good way to share and obtain information. Victorians Abroad is a recent initiative launched in partnership withAdvance - Global Australian Professionals to keep Victoria’s expatriatenetwork connected, informed and better able to promote our State as a wonderful place to live, work, visit and invest.

Victorians Abroad will help people living overseas to stay in touch with everything from job opportunities, to business updates, to the AFL football scores. It is a valuable new resource for those thinking of moving back to Victoria, for Victorian companies thinking of exporting overseas, and also for international firms thinking of investing in our State.  As of last November, some 2,700 Victorians were already registered, mainly in the UK, Europe and the USA.

Victorians in the UAE and surrounding Gulf countries are now encouraged to register.  The first 60 will receive a free ticket to the AFL NAB Cup Match between Collingwood and Adelaide being played at Ghantoot (near the Abu Dhabi / Dubai border) on Saturday 9 February.
